Dr. Steven Acker

After Dental School

Dr. Acker was one of 200 applicants to the high powered two year General Practice Residency Program at the Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center. He was one of the three graduates accepted and trained under the world renowned dental implantologist , Dr. Norman Cranin for the next two years. In his second year of the residency, he was appointed Chief Resident of the Department. Brookdale’s program had the reputation as being one of the most stringent and diverse medically based residencies in the country.

Dr. Acker began his career in private practice in Staten Island, New York

He is co-director of the Dental Implantology Fellowship Program at Brookdale, where he still actively teaches and helps keep the long traditions of academic excellence of the department alive today. Dr. Acker remains committed to teaching and learning, and is an International lecturer. Dr. Acker is a Mentor and Graduate at the prestigious Kois Center in Seattle, Washington. To earn his mentor status, he has passed a specific set of criteria and actively participates in a teaching capacity during intense 3- day seminars on pertinent areas of dentistry given regularly at the center.

Dr. Acker has dedicated himself to first-rate dental growth and learning through the renowned and exceptional teaching of Dr. John Kois for the past 10 years.

He has implemented Dr. Kois’ principles together with other information garnered from his years of ongoing continuing education in order for him, together with his team of dental professionals, to make a positive, lasting impact on his patients. In fact it is the purpose of Richmond Hill Dental Design Studio to improve the health and education of patient’s through caring and excellent treatment to the extent that a person’s health, self-esteem and confidence are enhanced while reducing the risk of additional dental problems.

Dr. Acker continued his education by becoming a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology after training with Dr. Carl Misch in 1997. In addition to his commitment to teaching at Brookdale Hospital, he has lectured in the United States and Europe on digital dentistry as well as esthetic and Implant Dentistry.

Dr. Acker is a leader in practicing, studying, and educating on the relationship between comprehensive oral health and total body wellness. As a member of the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health (AAOSH), Dr. Acker prides himself on continued education for both himself and his patients in regards to this particular correlation.

Richmond Hill Dental Design Studio is a completely independent community based practice in Staten Island, New York

Dr. Acker’s mission has always been to educate and treat patients without the influence of third parties. Richmond Hill Dental Design Studio has signed no agreements with insurance companies either to solicit or treat patients, although Dr. Acker is committed to helping patients understand and benefit properly from any insurance benefits that they may have. Dr. Acker is also extremely active in the business community of Staten Island, and has served as President of the Staten Island Bucks Business Network, a group of over 70 local businesses that are committed to excellence and support for our community.

Enhanced by his dental and engineering background, Dr. Acker and Richmond Hill Dental Design Studio have embraced and used the highest level of technology available in dentistry today

He practices with the latest advances in Digital Dentistry including CAD/CAM (CEREC), digital x-ray and diagnostic technologies. This became possible due to his high level of training and commitment to excellence.
